If you're scouting for the role of an Account Manager, there are jobs aplenty in the market. As an Account Manager, you will need to be responsible for identifying growth opportunities and plan accordingly for that. Also, you will need to take care of your territory and implement client servicing that will help drive retention and improve margins. You should be prepared to hold periodic business reviews with strategic customers. Along with that, you need to cater to customers at risk, contract renewals and
think of retention action plans with other colleagues. Timeliness coupled with the quality of service report and business reviews are also important requisites for someone wishing to take on the mantle of an Account Manager. You should also be able to meet service level agreements and monitor as well as report market intelligence in your designated territory. Doing the analysis and documenting action plans should also be your forte. Thinking of new program sales and new ways of market penetration is also one of the important qualities that you as an Account Manager should possess. Added to this you should be skilled at writing proposals with minimum inputs from seniors and also be able to negotiate and arrive at costs that are acceptable as well as optimal. Drawing up contract agreements with suppliers is also a skill that will help you stand out in the organization.
