Personal Assistant jobs are available in different industries and the roles & responsibilities depend on the industry type. Personal assistants may perform varied tasks such as scheduling meetings, answering phone calls, taking notes, emailing, texting, etc. Personal assistants or PAs are hired by most celebrities and renowned personalities to manage their schedules. A personal assistant can also be identified as administrative assistant as the main job is helping individuals with time and daily management, scheduling of meetings, correspondence, and note-taking. The minimum education required to become a personal assistant is graduation from any discipline, however preference would be given to those having diploma in office management or similar study. A personal assistant can also be referred as the main point of contact, particularly dealing with correspondence and phone calls, managing diaries and organising meetings and appointments, often controlling access to the manager/executive, booking and arranging travel, transport and accommodation, organising events and conferences, reminding the manager/executive of important tasks and deadlines, etc. Usually a personal assistant is expected to follow instruction from his/her supervisor, and the ability to understand those instructions with little or no follow up will be appreciated by the bosses. Strong organizational and cognitive skills are required for a personal assistant job. To become a successful personal assistant, terrific organizational skills are required. Last but not the least, one must develop sharp computer skills to incorporate tasks assigned to personal assistants. Writing emails, transcribing notes, faxing, copying, and creating spreadsheets or printing documents figure heavily in a personal assistant's work day.
