This role is based in Bangalore Securities Lending team. The team provides operational support for Northern Trust's clients in all markets in which Northern Trust operates & also supports Northern Trust's agency lending program, a number of Agency Lending, Client Directed Lending and Third Party lending arrangements. The Position reports to the Section Manager .
. Graduate from Commerce discipline
. Candidate having prior experience and background with Securities Operations would be preferred
. Must be flexible to work in shifts
. Other as per HR guidelines
. Must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills
. Should be confident while conversing with people and audience
. Should be an effective listener
. Ability to adapt quickly to new situations and initiatives
. Should respect diversity and create an atmosphere of inclusion in the team
. Should have general awareness of market wide risk and compliance policies such as AML Information Security, BCP, Pandemic planning etc.
. Ability to understand & comprehend Risks associated with Securities Operations domain (lending preferred) and the implications on operations
. Strong understanding of aspects of Internal Control, its effect on Operations and implementation
. Comprehensive understanding of the Asset Servicing Practice and its effect on the Financial Service Industry
. Custody Trade and Settlements, Corporate Action knowledge would be an added advantage
. Financial knowledge on International and domestic markets would be an advantage
. Should understand the concept & ability to Driving Performance
. Ability to set priorities and manage multiple deadlines, follow-ups & escalate issues where necessary
. Working knowledge or experience in an income / Settlements/ Collateral /Corporate actions operations environment would be preferred
. Serve as the first level of management
. Should be able to understand organizational & Division goals, strategies and should be able to help connect to the team's performance in achieving the same
. Ensure that the SLA / KPIs are being performed in a timely manner
. Timely updating of process related documentation and sign-off from on-shore managers
. Responsible for allocation of work to the team and other Day-to-day management responsibilities
. Organizes the work of the team, assigns tasks, sets short-term priorities, monitors all activities and ensures timely and accurate completion of the work
. Responsible to engage team members through daily huddles, periodic team meetings
. Work with the Section Manager to test internal controls not only within the sub function of Control but across all sub functions and report accordingly
. Conducts performance management and provides monthly and regular feedback to staff on core task performance. If needed, escalates to the next level in case of staffing and disciplinary actions to be addressed
. Should be in a position to maintain extremely high accuracy levels for the team (through supervision)
. Displays extremely high ownership for both the team and the process. Steps up and makes effective decisions wherever and whenever required
. Build and maintain strong relationships with Team members, Middle Office and other relevant partner areas such as Risk, Audit, and HR etc
. Acts as a back-up for the Section Manager and also contributes to MI reporting
. Responsible to coach/mentor team members to help them walk through employee journey at Northern, help build career development plans
. Participates/drives project(s) at Division or Practice level
. Good interpersonal skills and understanding of NT and its business. Organisational Knowledge (business knowledge, expert knowledge and external events impact) - NT Savvy (relationship builder, respectful, & have good networking skills))
. The role involves written and verbal communication with counterparties such as agents and borrowers. Candidate needs to have effective verbal and written communication skills - Effective Communication Skills
