Roles and Responsibility
Business Title : Strategy & Competitor Analyst
We Offer:

Objectives of the position
 Prepare coverage on quarterly financial results of the top container carriers, terminal operators and Logistics/Forwarders competitors
 Deep dive on key competitors financials and other key developments to enable strategic decision making
 Prepare presentations for C-level executives enabling strategic decision making through quality inputs on financials, competitor status etc.
 Provide support to the Strategy and M&A teams in Copenhagen through qualified research and analysis
Key Responsibilities:
 Competitor Analysis:

  • Flash: Prepare coverage on quarterly financial results of the top container carriers, terminal operators and Logistics/Forwarders competitors
  • Deep Dives: Prepare deep dive presentation on top competitors to analyse the drivers for the performance during that period. The findings and summary of the presentation is shared with the top management and is used by them to develop internal strategy.
  • Preparing Fact Files for CEO’s review: Prepare competitor profiles containing company overview such as organisation chart, financial position, operational metrics, major updates etc.
  • Industry Landscape analysis: Share relevant events in the Transport & Logistics industry and on the competitive side with senior management. Proactively prepare an analysis on the impact on current Line, APM Terminals and Logistics segment due to any major change in the landscape.
  • Memo & Summary Slides: Write a brief MEMO on the overview of the key industry trends and competitor activities observed during the quarter and share it with senior management. Prepare an in-depth competitor analysis of all financial metrics during the quarter.

  •  Strategy Analysis:
  • M&A Projects: Support the M&A team on preparing an in-depth overview on the target company
  • Ad-hoc support: Provide analytical and presentation support in various ad-hoc analysis and internal/external presentations

  • Personal characteristics
    Sound analytical skills, a passion for numbers and analysis and good interpersonal skills as well as being comfortable and motivated by the specialist role.
    You are ambitious and very comfortable with and get motivated by taking on responsibilities and it is also natural for you to seek this on your own initiative.
    You have excellent analytical and communication skills, allowing you to grasp and relay complex financial results to stakeholders across the global Group. A good command of written and verbal English is a must.
    Strong sense of detail. Should be able to look out for details and research for facts through various sources.
    Experience
    Strong financial & analysis background with 7-8 years of min. experience of which at least 2-3 years of work experience is on competitor analysis, industry/market research and/or analysis of financial statements.
    Exposure towards highly analytical presentations for various other stakeholders in top management.
    Prior experience in Shipping will be an advantage, though not a must.
    Education requirement
    Post-Graduation in Finance from a renowned university.
    Special skills
    Expert in Excel and PowerPoint skills is a must.
