Job Description

Grade E: Sr BI Specialist
  • Ability to work with large amounts of information and see the ‘bigger picture.
  • Gather, analyse and model data using analytical tools and techniques to develop business insights to drive decisions.
  • Deliver insights and suggestions for continuous improvement on the basis of MI reviews
  • Conceptualize the organisation operations metrics and KPI's aligned with operations objectives
  • Develop dashboards to execute the organizational MIS
  • Build the infrastructure tools and organization structure to deliver the Organisational MIS
  • Provide a forward looking mirror to enhance the business MIS using Data Science principles and finding needle in haystack.
  • Develop dynamic dashboards that provide insights and visualization into performance relative to KPIs, projections, and historical performance.
  • Multi-tasking on multiple projects on tight timelines occasionally.
  • Extract, process and distribute large volume, variety and velocity of data on the agreed frequency, with accuracy and rigour, using the agreed standard operating procedures and process ad-hoc requests on agreed timelines
  • Develop dynamic dashboards/ reports that provide insights and visualization into performance relative to KPIs, projections, and historical performance
  • Use intermediate to advanced Excel, QlikView, Qlik Sense and Tableau skillsets to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of reporting
  • Ensure data integrity, collaboration and innovation in business processes
  • Communicate with stakeholders to manage expectations, review requirements, build and maintain good open relationships
  • Share knowledge and assist other team members to avoid points of failure and improve/widen colleague's knowledge.
  • Work collaboratively with Business Partners and Development Team members to on-board new production items, ensuring adequate controls and QA checks are identified
  • Monitor regular reports to ensure that both automated and manual outputs are as expected, and manage expectations should issues occur. Flagging pinch points for deliverables.
  • Update schedules for owned automated reports to ensure all intended output is produced
  • Provide commentary on the outputs to recipients where applicable. Identify problems with outputs prior to release resolve issues by designing modifications and providing documentation for corrections
  • Improve reports by reviewing current requirements proposing modifications, designing and documenting them

  • 5-8 years experience in (1) Business Intelligence and (2) Project, Communication and Stakeholder Management
  • Masters degree or equivalent in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
  • Relevant experience in Consumer, Financial, Social Media, FinTech
  • Practitioner in business intelligence their value / limitations

Soft Skills
  • Fast learner and effective communicator of new / complex information
  • Self-motivated team player who is able to define, structure and prioritize work, but who has the flexibility to change priorities when circumstances dictate
  • Able to develop cooperative and constructive working relations with strong cultural awareness
  • Confidence to challenge and be innovative

  • Financial Engineering and / or Investment Management experience
  • Data Visualization, Data Storytelling
  • Able to use advance data science tool like R/Python to be able to do forecasting of KPIs, finding correlation & drivers of KPIs.

Business Intelligence
  • Understanding of Data Warehousing Tools, expert in Tableau and MS Excel, MS Access, SQL, Qliksense
  • Experience with all BI tools
