Software Technologist I/II - OSJob Description
Key Areas of Responsibilities:
  • Is responsible to develop/lead the customized OS (Win XP/7/10 embedded) releases for DXR products.
  • Create OSes for different H/W configurations.
  • Ensure ease of OS development and maintenance. Streamline OS creation activities and automate the steps involved.
  • Track, Analyze & integrate regular security patches to the OSes.
  • Understand E2E solution, deployment and integration scenarios and lead design decisions.
  • Analyze and incorporate functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Translate customer and software requirements to design and implement complete solutions.
  • Identify and resolve technical risks through quick prototypes.
  • Review and ensure quality of deliverable from self & team.
  • Mentor junior team members for quality deliverable.
  • Support Project manager with effort estimation.
  • Perform extensive hands on product development.
  • Follow best in class software development practices.
  • Responsible to continuously improve the quality of software deliverable.
  • Investigate critical defects & provide solutions, perform root cause analysis for continuous improvements.
  • Troubleshooting Knowledge of windows OS - Windows XP/7/10
  • Ensures that his/her software is reliable, efficient, easy to maintain, and user-friendly
  • Ensures that there is proper documentation for the developed SW
  • Performs work in line with the SW engineering processes that have been agreed in the department
  • Understands and communicates consequences of his/her design on higher level designs
  • Maintains Windows OS by solving problems and implementing changes
  • Draws up personal schedule and reports on progress
  • Contributes to the Work Breakdown Structure/ the planning process of his/her area
  • Keeps abreast of technical developments in own field through study of literature and technical contacts

Experience & Competency Skills:
  • Bachelor degree in software/computer engineering or other relevant discipline (with SW training)
  • Extensive knowledge & experience in working with windows internals.
  • 4-9 years of experience preparing and verifying customized Windows operating systems-xp/7/10
  • Strong Knowledge of Windows/Linux internals and BIOS/UEFI configurations
  • Strong experience in scripting languages, MS Build, Perl, PHP, VB Script, Python, Powershell.
  • Knowledge on OS security, like STIG, Nessus guidelines & policies.
  • Experience in tools like Windows AIK, MDT, Norton Ghost, Win PE.
  • Good programming experience in C#.Net.
  • Experience in working with tools like Enterprise Architect for UML, TFS, GIT, Clear case, Clear Quest, Caliber RM.
  • (Some) knowledge and understanding of other disciplines with which co‑operation takes place
  • Good communication and documentation skills
  • Disciplined team worker, to work independently and act pro-actively
  • Analytical, creative, and abstract thinker
  • Accurate and quality minded
  • Good experience in integrating, configuring, optimizing 3rd party software & device drivers as per functional & non-functional requirements
  • Proven skills of delivering quality deliverables in projects worked before.
  • Proven skills of innovation/improvements in product features, process steps for operational efficiency.
