At Core Foundation Services in Salesforce, we work on solving the hard, long term engineering problems in our software foundation that underlies all of our products. Focus is on building powerful and simple to use frameworks, services and software components that will be used by our products to deliver value to our end customers.
We own mission critical, large scale services in the areas of Async processing and Caching out of our Hyderabad Center. Our goal is to enable easy scaling of our applications via new services, frameworks and architecture patterns in our broad areas of focus. The challenges include developing and owning highly scalable services in production along with ongoing service transformation to modern micro services architecture using latest technologies such as Service mesh, Kubernetes, Spinnaker etc. We take pride in Service ownership and ensuring high availability of our services while innovating continuously.
We are looking for passionate engineers to join Core Foundation Services as software engineering architect and drive key areas. Your responsibilities as an architect include
  • Build and deliver large scale distributed systems and services for internal and external customers in production using modern technology stacks and architecture patterns to enable scaling of Salesforce applications
  • Drive architectural initiatives, roadmap and technology direction in areas of ownership balancing long-term platform velocity with short-term customer needs
  • Influence and drive adoption of CFS services across the engineering organziation to enable high scale applications to meet the largest customers’ requirements.
  • Drive and Participate in scaling research spikes, make proposals and drive consensus across teams
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor senior ICs in the group and groom them for success
  • Work across cross-functional teams, drive and align priorities in achieving business goals
  • Create strategies to balance short term requirements with long-range business plans
  • Proactively provide technical leadership to multiple areas within the team and across the organization
  • Suggest and drive methods to improve organizational productivity.
  • Build upon open source wherever appropriate and contribute back to the open source community

Experience/Skills required
  • Consistent track record of owning and driving platforms and services and delivering on commitments which have a large impact on the company’s deliverables
  • Proven experience in multiple areas and applications of large scale distributed systems
  • Working knowledge of public cloud offerings (AWS/Azure/GCP..)
  • BS, MS, or PhD in computer science or a related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 15+ years of experience with hands-on, server side development
  • Experience in microservices architecture, container management, service mesh, API gateways and tools like Kubernetes, Istio, Envoy is highly desired
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to articulate key points and work seamlessly across teams
  • Quick, agile and independent learner who loves a fast-paced environment
