Alexa is the cloud-based voice service from Amazon that is making smart home simple through voice. The Alexa Smart Home experiences allow customers to interact directly with the connected home, controlling devices from thousands of manufacturers in a seamless way. We’re looking for an experienced software engineer to help the evolution of our device certification console. We are a team of full-stack developers located in Bellevue and Seattle, WA. As part of Alexa Smart Home, we work to support the device manufacturers and developers who integrate their products with Alexa, and raise the bar on the quality of those customer experiences. Using modern services and tools, you can help us to scale up and out this strategic service, and impact thousands of developer partners while integrating with numerous internal teams in a highly-visible role.
Responsibilities
• Own large component areas of scalable services, including detailed design and implementation.
• Contribute to the quality of architecture and design of systems.
• Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straight-forward solutions.
• Perform real-time troubleshooting for customer-impacting issues.
• Possess knowledge in performance, scalability, and engineering best practices.
Basic Qualifications :
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience, including Java and/or C++.
• 1+ years of experience in networking, multi-threaded applications and software development.
• Experience building high-performance, highly-available and scalable systems.
• Experience designing, building and managing IP based communication systems and services.
• Experience optimizing for short term execution while planning for long term technical capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications :
• Master’s degree
• Excellence in technical communications with both technical and non-technical peers
• Robust project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling, and executing on committed schedules
• Excellent judgment, organizational, and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skill, including verbal, written, listening and customer relationships
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment
