Senior Systems Development Engineer
Join us as a Senior Systems Development Engineer - Sustaining & Debug on our Engineering Development team in Bangalore to do the best work of your career and make a profound social impact. You will work closely with Dell's International Product Support and Quality teams to identify improvements, field issues, cost reductions, and new features to be added to existing adapters. You will work closely with the development teams to integrate those changes into upcoming projects for release to the market.

This role will be heavily focused on resolving field escalations and sustaining issues.
You will:
  • Participate as a member of the engineering Project Delivery Team to deliver complete products into the Dell server business
  • Work as the liaison between global Product Support teams and your Engineering Development Team to resolve field issues and enhance products to meet our customers needs
  • Work closely with other Dell development and sustaining engineering experts across all domains to root cause complex system interactions
  • Significant focus on debug of complex Networking ecosystems and server configurations to help resolve customer issues across hardware, firmware, and software boundaries
  • Understand and debug Systems Management issues related to remote deployment, configuration, and administration of Dell Server products
  • Designs and defines system requirements for complex customer systems, and/or prepares studies and analyzes existing systems.
  • Determines system specifications, input/output processes and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Coordinates design of subsystems and/or the integration of total systems or multiple functions.
  • Responsible for design of assigned system/subsystem and meeting quality requirements.
  • Ensures the manufacturability, reliability, and serviceability of designs.
  • Identifies, analyzes, and resolves program support deficiencies. Develops and recommends corrective actions.
  • Responsible for benchmarking, testing and analysis on products during all phases of the development process.
  • Documents results in technical reports, white papers, and online web pages.
  • Ensures assignments are completed within schedule and cost objectives.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end ownership of assigned system(s).
  • Coordinates root cause analysis to solve issues including complex issues.
  • Interfaces with technologists, development, and marketing to define and optimize system performance and resolve performance problems.

Essential Requirements:
  • Experience:5-8 years of Systems Development.
  • Experience with scripting with Python, C or C++.
  • Experience in debugging hardware, firmware, and software domains in complex systems.
  • Experience in hardware debugging skills through both measurement and schematic and board layout analysis.
  • Experience with virtualization using VMware, Hyper-V
  • Experience with networking and communications technologies such as Ethernet, TCP/IP, NC-SI, FC, iSCSI and Infiniband.
  • Experience in working with third-party technical partners or geographically dispersed engineering team members to develop electronic assemblies and solve problems
  • Experience in networking architectures and applications, switches, cables, optics, and remote systems management implementation details.
  • Experience in using modern lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and high-speed.
  • Experience in protocol analyzers to debug both low-level and high-level problems.
  • Experience in understanding tradeoffs between hardware and software interactions.
  • Able to learn new operating systems with training and on-the-job experience.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a global cross-functional engineering team

Desired Skills:
  • Windows/Linux/ESX administration experience
  • Server or client computer systems development experience
  • Demonstrated experience managing third party suppliers and vendors to create or sustain engineering products
  • Experience with high-pressure customer escalations and engagements, with the demonstrated ability to quickly identify workarounds and solutions to maintain customer satisfaction and operational continuity

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science and 5+ years of related experience or 3+ years with a Master's degree or equivalent experience
