IHS Markit (IHSM) is looking for a full time Senior Research Analyst to join its Automotive Aftermarket Team within the Supply Chain and Technology Group. The primary responsibilities include writing B2B reports and insights with thought leadership, data research, and interviews. The target subscribers of IHSM’s aftermarket data and insights are top executives in the product planning, product development, and market strategy/investment departments at OEMs and component manufacturers.
The job entails close coordination with IHSM’s Automotive Aftermarket team and the wider Supply Chain and Technology team. IHSM’s aftermarket database integrates vehicles-in-operation (VIO) and VIO forecast data for more than 95% of the global vehicle population. The database provides globally integrated automotive parts information, including the ability to search by make and model.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Write 6-8 in-depth B2B reports per year (10000 to 15000 words each, with high usage of infographics/charts) on current and future trends on vehicle parc, distribution, servicing and parts manufacturing for OE and Independent aftermarket, featuring original IHSM Aftermarket research and analysis. A report will be published once every two months.
  • Write B2B articles (1500 to 2000 words) based on primary research and IHSM’s Aftermarket data. Topics can range from analysis of current events to key insights on IHSM unique Aftermarket data. Articles to leverage IHS Markit data points and data from primary research (no usage of third-party data is allowed unless it’s a government, or QUANGO authority)
  • Coordinate with Aftermarket domain Lead Analyst and other analysts globally for selection of topics and report structure. Prepare production brief for each report and share the same with domain Lead Analyst for approval.
  • Work with Reports Team manager and domain Lead Analyst to prepare and update the Report Schedule and Insights Schedule for Aftermarket Insight.
  • Collaborate with Aftermarket team Analysts to write article and create infographic for LinkedIn and other marketing initiatives.
  • Collborate with Aftermarket Team to acquire complete understanding of aftermarket database (OE Research & Worldiview) and other related solutions.
  • Become completely independent in navigating and extracting data from database for Reports and Insights
  • Database trainer: Mentor and train new collegues about Aftermarket solutions, database, reports, etc
  • Attend external webinars, investor calls to build strong connections with senior executives at aftermarket companies.
  • Organise and deliver IHSM webinars as a thought leader/SME on aftermarket market trends and forecast.
  • Support VOC capturing to drive new product ideas or enhancements and provide feedback to manager, lead analyst.

Skills, Experience and Education:
  • 6-8 years’ work experience in automotive database analysis, data research, strategic research, and report writing gained at a market research firm, consulting firms or at an automakers / supplier. Work experience in automotive aftermarket industry will be a plus.
  • Expertise/experience in using big database to extract desired information and formulate a point of view
  • Exceptional writing, communication and presentation skills in English.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, ability to work independently and manage strong network / communication with senior executives internally and externally.
  • Strong time management skills, ability to deliver projects within deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects
  • Ability to deliver desired results with minimum supervision.
  • Education: Graduation and above. Automotive Engineering background is highly desirable; MBA will be a plus
  • Proficiency in MS applications (Excel, PowerPoint); understanding of database language (Access, SQL) will be preferred.
