Senior Principal Software Engineer (DevOps Architect)
Be a part of a team that's ensuring Dell Technologies product integrity and customer satisfaction. Our IT Software Engineer team turns business requirements into technology solutions by designing, coding and testing/debugging applications, as well as documenting procedures for use and constantly seeking quality improvements.
What you'll achieve
As a key member of the Dell Digital and IT's DevOps team, the DevOps consulting Architect will responsible for architecting Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery products for Cloud Native Applications and Traditional Web Applications across Dell IT and enable adoption of end to end DevOps across application teams. The ability to not only code and configure tools but also deep understanding of Cloud Technologies and ability to assemble and integrate technology across disparate platforms is critical to success. This role requires not only deep understanding of development and Cloud Platforms but also a holistic view of Devops including Test Driven Development and a Change agent across IT. Candidates should be a technical domain expert, experienced with DevOps both as a philosophy and having implemented its ideas.
You will:
  • Responsible for Architecting end to end CI/CD Solution for automating software delivery for Cloud Native Solutions deployable on PCF (Pivotal Cloud Foundry), (PKS) Pivotal container services / kubernetes and Azure.
  • Responsible for Architecting end to end CI/CD Solution for automating software delivery for traditional applications
  • Design a container-based CI/CD environment in Gitlab that will scale to support Dell IT's evolution to cloud Native Application Architecture Delivery.
  • Integrate Testing frameworks and tools to automate testing into Software Delivery
  • Work closely with Software delivery teams to evangelize DevOps culture and enable Automation for their applications
  • Act as a liaison with other Architects (security, infrastructure, EA and Application) and with delivery teams working primarily within an Agile and Pivotal methodology
  • Mentor delivery team technical leads and developers.
  • Research and develop best of breed technologies around automation across Cloud Native applications that leverage cloud foundry, kubernetes, serverless , SaaS etc.

  • Experience in Architecting end to end CI/CD solution using popular Platforms like GitLab, Azure
  • Very Strong hands-on experience with Docker containers and container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes
  • Prior experience automating real-world production environment
  • Strong scripting skills in popular languages e.g Powershell, Python, Bash etc.
  • Experience in Ansible, terraform or any IaaC tools with demonstrated experience in automation using these frameworks.
  • Deep understanding of Microservice Architecture and REST based implementation of APIs.
  • Experience with automated testing tools like selenium , saucelabs/Moon , Neoload and JMeter
  • Strong experience in Git based SCMs.
  • Experience in Cloud Native Application Architecture with working knowledge of 12FA principles. Experience in Pivotal Cloud Foundry or open source Cloud Foundry platform is desired
  • In depth experience with Linux, specifically with Ubuntu Operating System
  • Very good understanding of declarative programming based on YAML
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated experience in creating technical white papers around DevOps.
  • Ability to discuss and defend Architectural decisions with team of strong technical architects.
  • Strong working knowledge of developing 12-factor applications
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in the IT field focusing on development projects and DevOps
  • Minimum of 7 years of development experience in .Net or Java/Spring application platforms
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands on experience designing DevOps solutions leveraging Docker container and Kubernetes
  • 4+ years of DevOps and Build Tools experience
  • 5+ years of experience in automation frameworks like Puppet
  • 5+ years of strong experience in Linux administration and scripting
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science required. Masters is desired.
  • Strong preference for a polyglot programmer/Architect who is comfortable in various development environment including .NET Core
