An opportunity exists to support this dynamic organization as Senior Manager, Financial Systems in the Disney Financial Systems team based in Mumbai, India.

The Senior Manager of Asia Pacific Financial Systems will primarily lead the strategy setting and day-to-day sustainment operations for financial processes in the Asia Pacific markets, with a main focus in SAP and related systems. This will include partnering with the Enterprise, International and Regional leaders in the different supported areas, such as APAC Controllership, Disney Worldwide Shared Services, APAC Tax, Finance, Sourcing & Procurement and Business Operations amongst others.

As part of the day-to day activities, the role will liaise with the different business stakeholders on system strategies leading to process improvement and technology solution implementations. Will lead the selection of technology tools, identification and specification of systems enhancements, oversee testing strategies, govern master data, assist with implementation on compliance and controls around these systems and troubleshoot end user issues. This role will also manage the project life cycle of a number of business initiatives including but not limited to new business integration, and financial systems and process upgrades that will lead to supporting modernization efforts.

The role will also have a focus on the following main types of initiatives:
  • Business Transformation projects, including process optimization/automation and new technology implementation.
  • Integration of acquired companies, including operational integration of any businesses outside of standard TWDC systems and processes, migration to SAP and retirement of legacy systems
  • Regulatory and compliance initiatives, including SOX, changes in Tax laws, implementation of electronic invoicing and reporting mandates, etc.
The candidate must have a strong accounting/finance background, well-rounded knowledge of SAP system as well as program and project management knowledge. He/ She should have strong experience in accounting, including US and local APAC GAAP and electronic financial statements filing. A solid background on APAC Tax requirements including tax calculation and electronic tax reporting, particularly in India. The person will need to have experience leading and supporting initiatives in the full Source to Pay cycle, including APAC rules on AP processing and payments settlement and banking. Also vast experience in the Credit to Cash area, including revenue recognition, B2B and ideally B2C billing counting different types of electronic invoicing mandates in the region. Experience in cash application and bank reconciliation automation will also be desirable. Knowledge of cross-country intercompany process and APAC T&E rules, such as common tax deductibility requirements will be a plus.

This candidate should be familiar with current best practices and new technological trends to enhance the effectiveness of the transaction processing, reconciliation, reporting and month / quarter end closing. The candidate should have proven history of building and maintaining excellent client service relationships, interact and partner with executives at all levels to help drive collaborative business decisions. The candidate must have strong motivational skills as well as team management experience to direct and mentor teams to meet objectives, excellent communication skills, work in a fast-paced environment, and adaptable to business priority changes with ease.

Areas of Responsibility:
Project Management / Process Improvement
  • Manages multiple complex projects covering multiple process areas (e.g. Accounting, Source to Pay, etc.).
  • Leads the design, resource management, implementation and support of SAP and other finance system solutions for each Segment and the Enterprise
    • Effectively communicates with management, stakeholders, subject matter experts and project team members.
    • Assists in developing project infrastructure for team (i.e. templates, project management methodology and execution)
    • Develops project plans with specific goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, identification of risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources for each phase of the project.
    • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule
    • Monitors project results against objectives, milestones and scope.
    • Develops solution testing, training and communication.
    • Obtains project signoff of completion and appropriately close-out.
  • Provides SME advice to the overall project team in his/her process areas
  • Project Manages/supports major process improvement initiatives
  • Identifies new process improvement opportunities, determining efficiency or ROI for larger proposals
System Enhancement & sustainment
  • Liaises with IT to drive system enhancements, upgrades and modifications across multiple process areas and segments ensures architecture supports business requirements
  • Works with the Territory, APAC Controllership and Tax teams to identify enhancements and opportunities for process improvement
  • Oversees the preparation of functional specifications and sign off of technical specifications prepared by Enterprise Tech.
  • Oversees tracking and prioritization of APAC and International Enhancement requests
  • Provides advice to the Territory, APAC Controllership and Tax teams on best practice in SAP (and other financial systems) operations
  • Leads the team to provide sustainment support for the areas of responsibility, including end user support and training needs
  • Prioritizes issues and report status on a regular basis to the Director, International FS Lead
  • Supervises support for the regular major releases of SAP by overseeing testing performed by the APAC team and coordinating the changes
  • Defines and drives long term strategy for Disney Financial Systems and related processes within their process areas
  • Implements strategic plans participating in the selection of methods, tools, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results
  • Leverages synergy opportunities across functions and businesses
  • Makes sound business decisions that balance competing priorities
  • Serves as a strategic business planning partner working with business units (within each Segment and across the Enterprise) and IT to formulate enhancement options to address specific functional issues / requirements
  • Develops Strategy for obtaining/analyzing metrics to identify trends, process/system opportunities and recommends corrective action
  • Recommends and implements process improvement/reengineering initiatives

Experience and Qualification Required :
  • Minimum of 10 years work experience with financial or accounting, preferably in a large SAP installation
  • Minimum 5 years of staff management experience
  • Well-rounded functional knowledge of SAP system in related process areas.
  • Experience working for large company and within a matrix organization
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency in managing projects of medium to large scale and implemented change initiatives as a technical expert within a specified product or process area
  • Experience in service delivery in a high performing customer service and support organization
Qualification Required :
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • CPA or CMA license, or equivalent
  • PMP or other professional project management certification
  • Six Sigma certification
