We intend to make it easier for our customers to harness the power of data to drive critical tax processes, to make better data-driven decisions. We are building Data and Intelligences services that powers an innovative Process Automation and Data Analytics Product (PANDA) and other future line of user centric products for Amazon Tax. This is a brand new engineering effort, and as a senior data engineer you will be owning the vision and strategy for the Data and Intelligence services, building end-to-end data engineering solutions. You'll play a vital role in strategic decision-making and adding the much needed data engineering muscle to the existing team of SDEs and Applied Scientists.
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to join our team to lead and drive Data and Intelligence services strategy. The candidate should be a self-driven, analytical, and an experienced data engineer. In this role, you will be working on building world-class green field products and services, collaborating with other Data Engineering teams at Amazon and Software Development Engineers, Applied Scientists focused on building self-service oriented end to end data processing, data analytics, and machine learning solutions.
You will be responsible for building end to end Data Architecture needed to ingest, validate, transform, reconcile, publish, integrate with multiple downstream systems and enable actionable intelligent insights on the wealth of tax data while setting a high bar on data security and compliance.
The candidate will possess excellent business and communication skills, be able to work with business owners and be able to collaborate with SDEs, SEs and Applied Scientists to build data-driven workflows. You should have a solid understanding of how to build efficient and scalable data infrastructure and data models, and the desire to learn and implement Elastic MapReduce (EMR)-based solutions where appropriate.
Responsibilities:
. Owning the design, and development of end to end data-driven workflows.
. Engineering solutions to aggregate and automate large scale data flows from varying sources.
. Collaborate with Engineers and Scientists in the organization to construct complex data sources for algorithms and machine learning models.
. Explore and learn the latest AWS technologies to provide new capabilities and increase efficiency.
. Build real time streaming from internal and external sources to provide insights to the business.
. Build, analyze and present actionable data to Amazon Tax Analysts. Help continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers.
Basic Qualifications :
. 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role
. Experience with data modeling, data warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
. Experience in SQL
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- 1+ years of progressive software development in Java or .NET and SQL
Preferred Qualifications :
Preferred qualifications
. Knowledge of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source management, build processes, testing, and operations
. Excellent knowledge of Advanced SQL working with large data sets.
. Knowledge of Advanced Statistics and implementing ML models.
. Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members in all aspects of their engineering skill-sets
. Proven success in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe data modeling decisions and data engineering strategy
. Experience providing technical leadership and mentoring other engineers for best practices on data engineering
. Strong business acumen, proven ability to influence others, strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills, and ability to manage multiple projects.
