  • Build automation scripts for projects and different applications, starting with OS level and DevOps tools
  • Deliver DevOps with best practices in terms of automation builds, release processes, developer's code deployment.

What will you be doing
  • Responsible for developing automation scripts, regular updates, monitoring, and alerts
  • Deliver Document release notes, user guides, deployment plans.
  • Technical Design, Develop and Implement Change Requests (CR) from Business
  • Demonstrates an awareness of Barclays System architecture
  • Assist developers and project users to perform their work and be able to solve any problem related to the architecture that may block their daily activities
  • Work with vendors to resolve problems through established or ad hoc support arrangements

  • Experience in Unix scripts and databases
  • Very Good communication and organizational skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Very Good analytical skills
  • Knowledge of IT operations best practices
  • Exposure on cloud (AWS )
  • Exposure on some of the DevOps tools including but not limited to
    • Chef
    • Puppet
    • Jenkins
    • Ansible
    • Maven
    • Nagios
    • Docker
    • Git
  • Understanding of Big Data / Hadoop core concepts and technologies:
    • Hive
    • MapReduce / YARN
    • Cascading
    • Kafka
    • HDFS
    • HBase
    • Spark (skills on Spark libraries i.e. SQL, Streaming, MLib and GraphX will be an added advantage)
  • Strong experience with database technologies
    • SQL
    • MS SQL
    • MySQL / MariaDB
  • Knowledge on Core Programming including
    • Java
    • Python
    • Scala
    • Bash
  • Open Source tools and technologies including but not limited to
    • Lucene
    • ElasticSearch
    • Open Source graph DBs (like Neo4j, OrientDB)

Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Determination and passion for delivery and performance
  • Self-motivated and organised individual
  • High degree of (hands-on) technical leadership with broad subject matter expertise
  • Excellent ability to execute where information is ambiguous, utilising professionalism, experience and prior knowledge
  • A minimum years of progressively demonstrating professional capabilities
  • A degree in computer science, mathematics, engineering or related field is required
  • Enthusiastic and proactive team player who is keen to contribute to ideas and listen in a collaborative manner
  • Strong support experience and Infra knowledge
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Eager to learn and keeps up to date with the following concepts: DevOps, Cloud based systems, Agile Scrum, TDD.
