Amazon’s Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) organization is changing the way we think about our workplace, so that we can keep our associates healthy and safe. We have just started scratching the surface in terms of possibilities, and are exploring everything from using devices to monitor and improve health, to linking together data from our buildings and devices to predict safety-related events. Our team is reinventing the way Amazon anticipates, assesses, and manages workplace hazards and risks.
So, if creating industry-first products excites you, this is the place. We are looking to build our tech capability ground up, with the intent of building systems/products that leverage sensor technologies to Computer Vision, and can help improve the efficacy of core WHS processes. The ideal candidate would be self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, and have ability to develop POC/MVP at a rather fast pace.
Responsibilities:
1. Build and lead a team of highly performant developers that will help ship new products.
2. Create processes, mechanisms, and tools that shape the delivery of the program.
3. Manage budget and Fixed/Variable cost for the program
4. Manage ambiguity and energize the team to stay focused on short term and long-term goals
5. Earn trust through regular communication with senior management on status, risks and change control.
6. Own the metrics for project success. Define, measure and report on these metrics.
7. Be resourceful and find creative solutions to complex technical and organizational challenges.
Basic Qualifications :
· Bachelor’s degree with a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
· 8+ years of relevant work experience as a Technical Program Manager or Software Development Manager.
· 5+ years of people management experience.
· Experience working with engineering teams to deliver software/products requiring coordination between hardware, software teams and operations.
· Expertise in analyzing cost/benefit of feature selection.
· Demonstrable experience in project management and coordinating/driving release schedules.
Preferred Qualifications :
· Familiar with theory and practice of relevance and Machine Learning.
· Master’s or advanced technical degree.
· Excellent written, spoken, and listening communication skills.
· A track record in planning and coordinating complex multi-team software projects.
· Excellent technical, problem-solving and partnering skills.
· Knowledge of hardware development process and lifecycle.
· Creative leader with superior analytical abilities.
· Cross-team coordination skills.
· Proven ability to concisely communicate with an executive audience in both written and verbal communications.
