About Quantitative Research
Quantitative Research (QR) is an expert quantitative modeling group in J.P. Morgan, as well as a leader in financial engineering, data analytics, statistical modeling and portfolio management. As a global team, QR partners with traders, marketers and risk managers across all products and regions, contributes to sales and client interaction, product innovation, valuation and risk management, inventory and portfolio optimization, electronic trading and market making, and appropriate financial risk controls.
Opportunity
We are looking for an Analyst with 1-3 years of experience to join our team in Mumbai. The team's mandate is to develop and implement state of the art risk models for the firm's Wholesale Credit Stress and loss reserves (CCAR, Basel, CECL, and IFRS9) for whole loans and securitized exposures. Core areas include development, prototyping and implementation of models for probability of default (PD), loss given default (LGD), exposure at default (EAD) and related stress testing measures. The team also develops analytic tools for integrated back-testing and performs analysis of model outputs through big data platform and web based reporting tools.

Your Impact
You'll contribute to the firm's risk model evolution, credit capital assessment and effective risk management. Specially, you'll have the chance to:
  • Develop statistical/economic models across wholesale credit portfolios and securitized exposures as well as regulatory exercises to advance the model methodology. The models include probability of default, loss given default, exposure at default, prepayment rate, and stress-testing models
  • Participate in all aspects of quantitative activities ranging from model research and prototyping to business support
  • Actively involve in complete model lifecycle i.e. development, validation, implementation, documentation and ongoing monitoring
  • Coordinate with multiple teams: model review group, business, technology and other stakeholders in the firm

About You
Combinations for the following will be a strong plus.
  • You have strong knowledge of statistical methods and models: time-series analysis, Generalized Linear models, clustering, predictive analytics and descriptive statistics etc.
  • You are experienced in handling large amount of panel data, and data cleaning/filtering
  • You should have good understanding of wholesale and retail portfolios
  • You should have basic knowledge of common structured products (ABS, CLO, RMBS, etc.)
  • You demonstrate proficiency in programming skills and are experienced in model development using either Python or R
  • You should have verifiable experience in writing technical documents and/or academic papers
  • You are motivated to take initiative and solve problems independently
  • You possess excellent oral and written communication skills

Desirables
  • PhD/Master's or Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Engineering, Physics etc. and related fields from a premier institute
  • 1-3 years of hands-on relevant experience in credit risk modeling is a definite preference and a plus
  • Experience in quantitative modeling in the wholesale area for regulatory exercises (e.g. CCAR or Basel)
  • Good knowledge of financial instruments and financial risk management principles is preferred
