Job Description


  • Responsible for the delivery of full range of Nursing services and for planning quality Nursing care for the patients.
  • To have daily feedback from Nursing officers daily (Employees & Critical patients).
  • To determine the correct number of nursing personnel to achieve the objectives of the institution.
  • To establish criteria for evaluation of the nursing personnel along with Nurse Educator.
  • To conduct daily rounds in the wards and delegate work accordingly.
  • To coordinate with other departments of the hospital for the smooth functioning.
  • To develop a standardized recruitment plan, coordinating with the Nurse Recruiter.
  • To conduct interviews and select the eligible candidates coordinating with Education wing.
  • Accountable for manpower, materials and maintenance of all equipments.
  • Ensures accurate documentation, maintenance and management of records.
  • To plan annual budget and monthly expenditure for the Nursing department.
  • To evaluate the effectiveness of the staff and their performance half yearly and annually.
  • To conduct weekly meeting with all the Nursing officers and Charge nurses.
  • To attend HOD meeting promptly.
  • To organize regular in-service education to the Nursing staff in coordination with the Nursing Education Wing by the Doctors and Nursing personnel.
  • Responsible for maintaining the discipline in the department.
  • To plan for crisis management.
  • To be responsible for assignment and supervision of the Nursing students with co-ordination of school and college Principal.
  • To coordinate with the School and College inspection by the Nursing Council.
  • To participate in the hospital activities related to community services.
  • To assist the internal auditors and external auditors for annual auditing.
  • Responsible for maintaining JCIA standards and Departmental Quality Monitors.
  • To participate and contribute to departmental quality initiatives.
  • To be aware of departments performance and objectives.
  • To carryout data collection/support in data collection.
  • To adhere to the safety norms of hospital, follow both patient, and staff safety rules.
  • To ensure all the employees are trained/oriented about the quality indicators of the department.
  • To supervise the activities of the nurses hostel, coordinating with Nurse Consultant.
  • To be responsible for the smooth functioning of the staff nurse's hostel along with HR.
  • To ensure staff welfare.
  • To address the staff grievances and supporting the nursing staff through counseling.
