Job Description SummaryThe Field Service Engineer tasks are related to the installation and support of Marine automation systems (IPMS Integrated Platform Management System) for military and commercial ships. The job will require frequent traveling up to 100 % to various client sites in India and globally.
The activity includes Setting to work, installation and tests of system modifications as well as through life support of the ship by means of periodic preventive and corrective maintenance on board, trouble shooting, repair and testing of the electronic components/subsystem and obsolescence management.
Job DescriptionRoles and ResponsibilitiesIn this role you are responsible for work that is less defined in scope, utilize your understanding and experience to execute business objectives, and can effect short-term and some long-term business goals.
Serve as the Primary GE on-site or mobile representative, and Lead the site on as a Site In Charge
Perform IPMS system installation check as per test procedures.
Experience in Propulsion & Manoeuvring, Automatic power Management system, Auxiliary control system, Battle damage control system, On board training system, Equipment health Monitoring system, CCTV, Personal location system and Integrated bridge system and 3rd party systems.
Perform the system power on as per procedures.
Perform the cold checks (channel check) as per procedures.
Perform the functionality test as per procedures.
Reporting the work progress and eventual functionality defects and solutions.
Manage and provide the maintenance activities: troubleshooting, interventions, reporting, assistance by mail or phone, training of crew onboard or on site, defining schedule of maintenance
Software upload/download for controller, change of tunable, trending analysis, data logs, screenshots, alarm logs.
Provide program site leadership, technical direction, and assistance to the customer, user, and other GE field personnel in the operation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of assigned product lines
Perform on-site installation of systems and equipment and ongoing preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration after installation
Accurately document as commissioned documents for record keeping
Respond to requests for emergency repairs and services to troublesome equipment
Provide technical instruction and assistance to customer representatives regarding installation, operation, calibration, repair, and maintenance at customer's sites
Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards
Knowledge to troubleshoot and provide routine maintenance checkout for wide range of equipment vintage
Apply Six Sigma analytical tools to assist the customer with proactive reliability and management. Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Assist customer with improving reliability and reducing cost of ownership
Provide single point of contact to the customer, customer team, and all other GE stakeholders
Assist customer with spare parts ordering &, issues resolution
Required Qualifications
Masters/ Bachelors/Diploma Degree from accredited college / university in Electrical Engineering or allied Engineering.
Knowledge base of electronics and control system
Experience (5+ years) on site setting to work and commissioning of automation systems (better if onboard military ships)
Understanding of electronic diagram/scheme
Capability to manage concurrent and different tasks
Good Analysis skills and strong attention to detail
Strong oral and written communication skills.
