Eaton’s Digital Office Center for Connected Intelligent Solutions (CCIS) is currently seeking a Manager of UI Platforms to join our team. This position is based at our Moon Township, PA facility. Relocation assistance will be provided if needed.
Position Overview:
The Manager of UI Platforms is responsible for leading a team focused on building a world-class design system through discovery, interaction design, and visual design all firmly grounded in UX principles. The ideal candidate has an uncanny sense for clean design, is a fierce advocate for the user, and is committed to delivering simple user experiences from complex workflows. Experience with Design Thinking and the Internet of Things (IoT) is a plus.

In this role you will:
  • Own the experience of the PX Blue design system for its key stakeholders including designers, developers, and product owners.
  • Drive consistency across the design system including design elements, code, and overall architecture.
  • Maintain a roadmap of features for improving the experience and capabilities of the design system.
  • Translate Eaton Brand principles into the digital product experience.
  • Present design concepts to cross-functional teams and stakeholders, senior leaders, and to various internal and external audiences with confidence.
  • Guide cutting edge creative work and have a master-level understanding of design.
  • Attract, retain, and build key talent on your team into design leaders; develop a pipeline of talent through partnerships with leading design-focused organizations and academic institutions.
  • Drive organizational maturity through exceptional collaboration, communication, and execution while managing the day-to-day operations of your team, ensuring focus on and execution against top priorities, and that the work of all team members is on-time, on-budget, and of the highest quality.
  • Forecast staffing levels of the entire design system team and plan staffing to meet the needs of Eaton projects and departmental initiatives.
  • Grow organizational awareness and capability with the design system through training, communication, audits, and oversight/governance.
  • Be knowledgeable and stay inquisitive about new skills, techniques, and digital design developments, and help your team successfully apply them to work practices.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution required.
  • 5+ years of full product development life-cycle management and/or a minimum of 3 years project management, UX and/or front-end projects.
  • 2+ years of experience managing and leading a team.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree from an accredited institution
  • 7+ years of design and/or usability engineering experience, including UX design of web applications.
  • 5+ years of experience project management and leadership in a design/development organization.
  • Mobile application development experience.
  • Knowledge of React, React Native, Angular, and other contemporary front-end languages and frameworks.

Position Criteria
  • A portfolio with a strong body of work demonstrating compelling information architecture, user experience, and progression from concept through production, across multiple disciplines and interaction media.
  • Experience growing and managing a team, working collaboratively with product management and engineering, from concept through delivery of world-class customer experiences.
  • You’re a charismatic and energizing public speaker, and you know how to command and energize a room.
  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders.
  • Ability to interact with people across the globe and with different cultural backgrounds.
