The Group: Morningstar's Research group provides independent analysis on individual securities, funds, markets, and portfolios. The Research group also provides data on hundreds of thousands of investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles, along with real-time global market data on millions of equities, indexes, futures, options, commodities, and precious metals, in addition to foreign exchange and Treasury markets. The Role: The Equity Data team is looking for a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, creative, and results-driven candidate with 10+ years of experience in equity data to join its Equity Data Collection Methodology Team. The team's mandate is to be the experts in the field of equity data, whom our external and internal clients can trust to provide intelligent, valuable, and timely solutions. To this end as a Manager - Data Content Specialist you will work with content researchers, product consultants, business managers, product managers, project managers, developers, operation team leaders, quality assurance analysts and client/third-party stakeholders to define, develop, manage and implement high quality equity data collection methodologies particularly covering Fundamental Data i.e. Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Notes to Accounts and other related supplemental data. You will also be leading a small team of Data Content Researcher to help you effectively manage this area. You will work in a global environment, managing stakeholders in multiple regions.
  • Serve as a Fundamental Data Expert for public companies listed on global exchanges
  • Work closely with multiple global teams across various functions and participate regularly in global calls and meetings
  • Defining, developing, managing, and implementing collection methodologies/policies around building and maintaining Public Companies Fundamental Data i.e. Income Statement, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, Notes to Accounts and other related supplemental data.
  • Define, build, enhance and maintain Collection Methodology Interface
  • Build and maintain framework to research, manage and timely resolution Data Collection and Client methodology queries
  • Conduct and organize data collection methodology training sessions
  • Develop and Maintain client friendly methodology documents/manuals.
  • Be Mentor and Guide to the team of Data Content Researchers.
  • Assist in promoting LEAN Six Sigma tools and methodologies as an analyst framework for assessing the root cause of issues and improving processes

  • Very good understanding and expert knowledge of US Gaap, IFRS and other regional accounting and reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of reporting pattern of fundamental data i.e. Income Statement, Balance Sheet and Cash flow across different countries, across different templates like Banks, Insurance etc
  • Very good understanding of interlinking of Fundamental data with Securities Data, Corporate Action and Market Reference Data.
  • Knowledge of different form/files types in which company reports its financial results like Annual filings, Quarter filings, 10K, 10Q, 20F etc
  • A good understanding of how investor clients use Fundamental Data.
  • Basic to Intermediate level of knowledge in working with databases (SQL) and willingness to grow that skill

Desired Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor/Master's degree in finance/business with an exceptional academic record
  • Professional degree or CA/CFA preferred
  • 10 + years of professional work experience at specialist/senior/principal/lead analyst
  • Work Experience in Fundamental Domain of S&P Global, Factset, Refinitiv, etc. is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, people, and project management skills
  • Interested in financial research and passionate about investing
  • Team player
  • Good analytical skills to research and analyze information to aid in decision making
  • Able to take the initiative and work without detailed guidance or supervision
