Introduction:
- A Mainframe application engineer (Fungible / T-Shaped) - to work in Mainframe Development, Design and Engineering Testing (System Testing).
- Mainframe Application Engineer role requires an experienced, high calibre mainframe engineer with good functional and technical engineering skills / product knowledge to work with business stakeholders and key suppliers to deliver change as per the requirements and to integrate them in the bank's infrastructure to agreed time, quality and cost parameters
- An engineer will carry out Application Design, Development and Testing related activities. The person will need to understand the functional/ business domain in question and have the technical skills required to do Design, Development and Testing that includes Test automation.
- Require Mainframe Knowledge/Expertise in IBM Z-Series Mainframe, COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, IMS and VSAM. Mainframe Hogan and Mainframe DevOps knowledge will be additional advantage
What will you be doing
Following are key activities expected from the role
- Responsible for component technical delivery (Design / Build / Test / Implementation) of projects within agreed timescales, High Quality and budgets
- Participate in project requirement gathering / component impact assessment
- Develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships - Liaise with technical delivery managers, leads keeping them updated on release progress against milestones, risks, issues and finances
- Collaborate with the application support / service teams to ensure smooth transition of applications into their BAU environments
- Ensuring that all changes are designed, developed, tested and implemented using defined best practices
- Strong interpersonal and written/oral communications skills
What we're looking for:
- Graduate with Technical background.
- Experience in Mainframe Application Design / Development/ Testing.
- Good understanding of Tools (Debugging / performance) is required.
- Sound logical reasoning & design methodology is desirable
- Ability to explore new age technology improvement / automation / DevOps toolchain is desirable
