Eaton's Electrical Division is currently seeking an Inside Sales Engineer to join our team. This position is based in our Richmond, VA location.
Position Overview:
The Inside Sales Engineer provides pre-sales technical, order and quotation support and processing to assigned accounts, account managers and direct outside sales teams.
Essential Functions Include:
  • Review plans and specifications and then offer the appropriate Eaton products for the project
  • Review purchase orders to ensure the customer's technical needs are met
  • Support non-hyperscale application questions, proposals, submittals
  • Explain Eaton's product documentation to specifying engineers and electrical contractors to guarantee correct product application and installation
  • Examine sales order prices and commission levels for accurate entry
  • Offer a technical resource to customer service and other internal departments
  • Interface with vendors, secure quotes and price ancillary equipment
  • Support direct sales team through technical assistance, pricing strategy, competitive review, installation and service information
  • Work on problems of diverse scope where analysis of technical data requires evaluation of identifiable factors
  • Offer training and technical mentoring for new employees as well as Sales Staff
  • Provide pre-sales technical support for Eaton products and ancillary equipment
  • Create submittals as required for large standard projects, in support of Direct Sales
  • Deliver quotes to Eaton Sales, Eaton Sales Partners, and customers.
  • Verify sales orders for technical accuracy
  • Assist with triage process for team inbox and custom quotes as necessary
  • Participate in scope review meetings and other pre-sales discussions with customers as required

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited educational institution
  • Experience in engineering, sales, or marketing roles
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship
  • This position does not offer relocation. Candidate must be located within 50 mile radius of Richmond, VA to be considered.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Background in technical sales or application engineering, with focus on electrical power systems
  • Knowledge of basic electrical code and construction practices, technical interpretation and 3 phase power distribution
  • Comprehensive knowledge of internal and competitor power distribution equipment for data centers or other mission critical facilities.
