Role Purpose:
To lead the Trading Solutions Technology organisation by developing and leading the Trading Solutions Technology strategy, working in collaboration with the business and customers to enhance existing or deliver new technologies for our trading products and services, as well as running an efficient robust Trading Technology organisationReports to:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Resolves and delivers the strategic roadmap of global technology for Trading, ensuring alignment with Data & Analytics Technology strategy, Divisional Strategy, and Group Technology strategy
  • Provides direction and leadership to the Trading Solutions Technology team responsible for delivering high quality product releases and enhancements across the Trading portfolio to deliver on the Platform technology strategy
  • Builds strong and collaborative relationships across Data & Analytics Technology, effectively communicating, positively influencing and engaging with diverse partners and actively participating in strategy formation
  • Defines and drives technology support optimisation for Trading based on Data & Analytics Technology strategy, adjusting it as appropriate across key parameters, including responsiveness, quality, risks and cost
  • Connects with the industry and ensures that all new and emerging technologies are well understood, well considered and well used by the organisation
  • Aligns technology investments and operational objectives to the strategy
  • Implements the governance, implementation and operational delivery of systems and platforms for Trading
  • Partners with scale partners to optimise resource mix to enable roadmap delivery
  • Represents Technology when working with Enterprise Technology, Proposition, Product, Sales and Customer Operations teams globally and represents Technology at regulated entities / Boards as required
Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the Trading Technology team, circa 417 FTE, plus 100 third parties / contingent resources, TBC
  • Revenue: £2.1Bil
  • Member of the Trading Leadership Team
Critical Work:
  • Deliver class leading, high quality Trading technologies on time and to budget
  • Lead change in the organisation and anticipate and identify risks and opportunities
  • Build and drive a ro team
Critical Impact:
  • All colleagues in the Data & Analytics Technology team through shaping the Trading Technology strategy
  • The Data & Analytics Division from a Trading technology perspective through delivery of the IS and Trading Technology strategic roadmap
Key Performance Indicators:
  • Cost reduction (efficiency)
  • Implementation / adoption of new technology
  • Vendor management
  • Reuse of shared technology to accelerate roadmap velocity and reduce cost
  • Customer engagement
  • Service levels, uptime and reliability
  • Reduction of multiple assets for the same purpose
  • Reduction of technology debt
Technical Knowledge:
  • Knowledge and experience of trading environments/venues, primarily FX and Equities trading, including Sell and Buyside order management systems (OMS), Orderbook, Post Trade / Settlement and algorithmic trading
  • Vendor management skills
  • FCA-accredited
  • Knowledge of architectures such as Core Stream
  • Validated ability to translate the vision/strategy into clear priorities and direction
  • Experience of large scale transformation, both in influencing strategy and successful implementation
  • Ability to anticipate and identify risks and opportunities and create innovative strategies to achieve optimal business outcomes
Sector Expertise:
  • Experience of working in highly regulated environments
  • Strong knowledge of the trading industry
  • Strong financial and commercial acuity with a customer attitude
  • Well-versed in current technological trends and business concepts
  • Experience building and operating a regulated technology organisation
  • Experience in understanding and leading financials to drive efficiency in the technology organisation
Leadership Experience:
  • Demonstrable ability to successfully lead and transform global (remote and vendor based) Trading teams
  • Acts as a talent advocate, with demonstrable experience of building and driving robust teams through clear performance expectations
  • Experience in a Technology leadership role
  • Experience in handling vendors to deliver technology resourcing strategies
Personal Skills:
  • Strong leadership skills that can bridge a matrix organisation, encouraging and influencing collaboration and transformation
  • Ability to communicate confidently and concisely to both technologists and non-technologists
  • Strong partner management skills with the ability to develop effective partnerships with regulators and other external entities
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and resilient to changing business priorities and organisational goals
  • Ability to develop talent through coaching and mentoring, with a passion for developing talent within own team / Function and beyond
