The role:
This is a global role with responsibility to develop and broker architectural and interface solutions that achieve Leica Biosystems (LBS) Interoperability goals. Interoperability rests at the heart of our customer experience by delivering on our commitment to safety, efficacy and quality through seamless and low touch integration of our products and data.
Responsible for the overall Interoperability architecture, the successful candidate will, through collaboration with the global R&D teams, drive a consistent approach to technology, processes, tools and standards with an edict to drive benefitial change at speed.
Reporting to the Senior Director Portfolio Architecture responsibilities will include:
  • Lead architectural solution definition including developing enterprise level reference models & standards, solution architectures and sustaining adherence to architectural and process models. While being a leadership role this is also a hands-on role.
  • Contribute to the development of business and technology roadmaps that support the transition to modern, future state architectures while maintaining awareness of the global organizations strategic vision.
  • Define solutions and resolve problems striking a balance between conceptual, analytical thinking and the need to get things done practicality and pragmatically.
  • Engage and lead discussions and workshops with key technical and product stakeholders, building and maintaining key relationships across LBS Business Units.
  • Work with LBS Program and Project teams to deliver the necessary architectures to accelerate delivery and remove roadblocks to progress.
  • Encourage close and effective working relationships between teams and ensure proper regard for standardised processes.

To be successful in this opportunity, a prior experience in the following criteria is required:
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience acting as an enterprise solution architect with responsibility for overall solution definition built on a background of active development.
  • Deep expertise and knowledge of current technology domains, actively maintaining awareness of technology horizon including cloud environments the future of security solutions.
  • Extensive experience defining and leading architectural solutions including enterprise level reference models, standards, processes and solution architectures.
  • Have established or significantly contributed towards the establishment of an enterprise level Architecture function/team.
  • Tertiary qualification in software engineering with proven knowledge of contemporary enterprise architecture and technology frameworks and methodologies (e.g. TOGAF, ITIL, Prince2, Lean and Agile).
  • Extensive experience creating technical documentation including frameworks, models and technical drawings.

  • An exceptional communicator with first rate stakeholder management skills enabling you to effectively collaborate, contribute and persuade at all levels.
  • A proactive, flexible and agile mindset with the ability to balance current and new architecture in the context of challenging business demands.
  • Demonstrate strong analytics and critical thinking skills - question design choices with a key focus on security and sustainability.
  • Highly organized with ability to prioritise quickly and focus on critical few with drive to action. Not afraid to question 'why' and seek innovative solutions to problems. Able to address difficulties or resistance among team members to enable them to overcome roadblocks.
  • A motivated and driven professional with the ability to work independently.
  • Passionate about working in a global environment with people from a diverse and cultural rich background.

Highly Desirable Behavioural Competencies:
  • Postgraduate qualification or training relating to enterprise and solution architecture.
  • Experience working in a lean development environment.
  • Experience in developing system in a regulated environment.
