Job Summary:
The Virtualization Support Specialist provides the day-to-day global operational delivery of the Virtualization capabilities as part of Core Infrastructure Services (CIS). This role is an individual contributor that provides technical support of a complex nature for the firm's virtual infrastructure and associated hardware and operating systems. This professional applies knowledge of VMware practices as well as good hardware and infrastructure experience to various platforms. This position requires in-depth knowledge of the firm's infrastructure to resolve complex incidents and problems and to provide a stable and reliable infrastructure.
Essential Functions of the Job:
Provides support for hypervisors, hardware, and software platforms.
Incident, service request, changes and root cause analysis (ITIL based).
.ESXi host administration
.vCenter administration
.Datastores creation
.vSwitch/VM Port Group configuration
.DRS/SDRS/HA configuration
.Snapshots creation/deletion
.vMotion/Storage vMotion migration
.vSphere resource management
.VM Template update and deployment
.VMware tools update
.Troubleshoot performance
.Firmware/Driver upgrade / Systems Management Software
.Remote access controller
.Coordinate replacement of faulty hardware
.Troubleshoot hardware issue
.DELL and HP family servers and blades
.HCI - DellEMC VxRail, Nutanix
Microsoft Windows Server:
.Windows server disk management
.Terminal services/remote desktop access to servers.
.Software Installations.
.Basic understanding of MS Clusters
.MPIO knowledge
.SAN/NAS/DAS knowledge
.VSAN (Good to have)
Technical writing:
Creation and modification of work instructions, reference and technical manuals and procedures documentation.
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities:
.Troubleshooting technical issue, problem solving, come up with workarounds to restore services, and knowing when to escalate to engineering team or vendor
.Prioritize tasks and assignments
.Work and team with a multitude of different people across teams, regions and organizations
.Handles escalations and difficult situations/people under pressure, such as restoring services
Knowledge and Skills Requirements:
.Large scale VMWare vSphere administration experience
.Experience in maintaining mission critical production systems running in a data center environment.
.Knowledge of Dell and HP server and blade hardware
.Knowledge of HCI technologies and hardware - VxRail, Nutanix
.Working experience with Windows server
.Working experience with Active Directory
.Understanding of IP protocols, networking, DNS and domain administration
.Understanding of MS clustering
.Understanding of Linux OS
.Working experience in ITIL Service Management systems such as ServiceNow, Remedy
.Experience in working with diverse and geographically dispersed teams.
.Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills- must be able to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing.
.Strong commutation and interpersonal skills
.Able to follow processes

The role may also require the periodic allocation of additional time on the job to support multiple demands and escalating issues or to accommodate teams or staff in other time zones.
Job Requirements:
.Degree in Computer Science/Management or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
.VMware vSphere 5 years
Certification Requirements:
.VMware Certified Professional
.ITIL Foundations v3
