Consumer and Community Banking Finance - Control Manager, Analyst

Chase Consumer & Community Banking offers services to consumers and businesses through bank branches, ATMs, digital and telephone banking. CCB is organized into Consumer & Business Banking, Home Lending and Card, Merchant Services & Auto. Consumer & Business Banking offers deposit and investment products and services to consumers, and lending, deposit, and cash management and payment solutions to small businesses. Home Lending includes mortgage origination and servicing activities, as well as portfolios consisting of residential mortgages and home equity loans. Card, Merchant Services & Auto issues credit cards to consumers and small businesses, offers payment processing services to merchants, and originates and services auto loans and leases.
Consumer & Community Banking Finance is committed to supporting and enabling the strategic and financial objectives of the business, while ensuring a sound control environment. The teams also provide CFO, P&A and Business Management services to their respective function heads and organizations.
Control Management (CM) maintains a strong and consistent control environment across the firm. With Control Managers appointed for each Line of Business, Function and Region, there is a comprehensive coverage and joint accountability model with the business executive that promotes early operational risk identification and assessment, effective design and evaluation of controls and sustainable solutions to mitigate operational risk.
Control Management focuses on four areas: 1) Control design and expertise 2) Risks and controls identification/assessment 3) Control breaks and resolution 4) Control governance & reporting
Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for Consumer and Business Banking Finance Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) and CCAR CFO Attestation Programs (CCAP) including an understanding of risk and controls, control breaks and resolutions, to reduce financial loss, regulatory exposure, and reputational risk
  • Perform design and operating effectiveness testing of SOX/ CCAP controls. Including but not limited to:
    • Documenting the narratives and flows related to key processes and controls within CCB
    • Assessing design and operating effectiveness of control supporting SOX/CCAP programs
    • Risk Assessment review by 10K financial statement line item for both quantitative and qualitative risk factors
    • Continually assessing and enhancing existing processes to support ongoing evolution of the framework and related standards
    • Partnering with LOB, finance, risk and/or technology stakeholders to support consistent implementation of the CCAP framework
  • Create a proactive risk and control culture that leverages proven evaluation strategies and sound change management protocols
  • Assist in validation and closure of SOX/ CCAP Issues and related Action Plans
  • Assist in developing recommendations to strengthen internal controls and improve operational efficiency
  • Staying current with evolving technology, industry and regulatory changes, and analyze impact to business objectives, processes, and compliance
  • Maintain integrity of testing documentation and provide when requested for various reviews for e.g. SCO QA, Internal Audit Review, and External Audit Requests
  • Good understanding of various technology solutions like Tableau, Xceptor & other like platforms to continuously enhance BAU execution exposure to technology audits will be an added advantage
  • Ability to handle large amount of data and provide meaningful insights based data analytical tools and review existing data environment

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • 2-5years of financial service experience in controls, audit, quality assurance, risk management, or compliance preferred
  • Big Four public accounting experience and /or CA certification preferred, internal audit or financial reporting experience required
  • Proficient knowledge of control and risk management concepts with the ability to design, create and evaluate risks and controls in conjunction with business partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Strong understanding of internal controls, particularly internal controls over Financial Reporting
  • Aproblem solver with proven ability to evaluate processes, controls and issues to determine the inherent risks
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively (both oral and written), with high degree of comfort communicating with senior management, internal and external audit as well as peer groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - verbal communications, written communications, with the ability to collaborate
  • Ability to maintain high ethical standards with a drive to achieve the right answer in difficult and/or ever changing situations
  • A self starter, with a drive for improvement and efficiency, thinks out of the box and is creative
  • Attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Ability to work in an evolving environment, manage multiple projects and support a growing business
