Role Summary/Purpose:
Serve as the primary point of contact with Collections and Recovery customers to understand stakeholder needs and translate opportunities into actionable items to enhance the Business Intelligence (BI) inventory document business requirements for new reports and dashboards write and execute test plans and test scripts around the same, performing data validation and data integrity checks propose changes and enhancements to existing solutions across the organization based on business need and value develop ad hoc reports. The successful candidate will play a significant role in providing run support for the BI organization and can design and develop products in Tableau and other best-in-class BI tools.
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Champion Customers: Engage customers to understand their needs as it relates to the delivery of a new or enhanced report or other BI product.
  • Relate and Inspire: Promote an environment for our customers where people are comfortable engaging the BI team to share opportunities or business needs.
  • Documentation: Solicit and document business requirements and needs review same with other team members.
  • Validation: Write and execute test plans and scripts for new reports and dashboards and other Business Intelligence (BI) solutions document and socialize results across the organization. Write and perform validation checks on data across existing and to-be developed reports and dashboards document and socialize results across the organization.
  • Build for the future: Test, troubleshoot, support, and fix BI products in development or in production. Proactively propose other solutions to further enable the Collections and Recovery organization as you learn the business and identify gaps and opportunities.
  • Data Exploration: Query data from multiple data sources, including but not limited to Oracle and SQL, to produce compelling BI products that enable and change how the business operates.
  • Review system requirements and business processes codes, tests, debugs, and implements software solutions, including development of SQL jobs to solve operational /reporting needs.
  • Create and manage database objects, functions, views, triggers and stored procedures using SQL Management Studio.
  • Develop ad hoc reports to support the needs of Collections and Recovery functions.
  • Work as an Agile team member participating in backlog grooming, sprint planning, stand-ups, and task estimation.
  • Communicate in a clear and structured way with clients, colleagues, and managers.
  • Support analytics assignments, as needed.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to work described herein, including manual report generation, as needed.

Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in business intelligence
  • Minimum 2+ years of relevant experience required - specifically, experience soliciting, capturing, and documenting business requirements for new applications or new BI products, experience writing and executing test cases
  • 2+ years of experience with BI applications, especially Tableau (recent versions up to and including 2020.1.7)
  • 2+ years of SQL experience
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and precision
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to work independently and work well under tight deadlines

Desired Characteristics:
  • Experience working in an Agile team environment previous experience with JIRA
  • Some background around best software development practices
  • Exposure to advanced analytics (regression analyses, time series models, statistical testing, etc.)
  • Prior Collections and/or Recovery experience would be a tremendous plus, or at least some domain knowledge of financial services in general
  • Knowledge of the Synchrony application landscape would be a tremendous plus
  • Advanced programming skills
  • Experience working in Visual Studio using C# as the primary language
  • Knowledge of JavaScript
