The PayPal Developer Experience team ensures the 1,000+ internal product delivery teams developing and delivering PayPal software can do so with minimal friction and maximum speed. It provides the tools, processes, and best practices that guide the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for all developers and all software stacks. This group helps simplify the process of delivering software so that engineers can spend more time developing and less time managing infrastructure and their pipeline. This is a critical function that ensures every team has the tools and support they need to stay in flow and deliver products globally to compete and win the $5 Trillian dollar FinTech market. This critical role helps quantify the process of software development at PayPal and develops insights that drive investment strategy for ongoing improvement. It requires an understanding of the key feedback loops that drive developers daily, knowledge of what factors contribute to software quality, and development of hypothesis that will enable developers to work more productively. By deeply understanding these processes, designing the data strategy, and turning the resulting data into useful intelligence that can inform product strategy, you will play an important role in PayPals ability to deliver market-winning products. It requires partnering closely with key leaders in the groups delivering developer services and helping them build strong, data-driven strategies to drive their roadmap.
Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Translate business questions into structured analysis and data analytics into business insights
  • Strong communication with business acumen who can work efficiently and effectively with key stakeholders across multiple teams and geographies to define and produce business metrics and insights within a given time frame
  • Develop a strong understanding of different data sources, and strategically implement data flows for robustness and scalability
  • Perform analysis on key business trends from different perspectives and package the insights into easily consumable presentations and documents
  • Own the production, development, and maintenance of all aspects of BI solutions ETL, Data Quality, Visualization, Documentation, and Support
  • Design and build BI dashboards in short timeframes via rapid prototyping and agile development
  • Apply advanced visualization techniques to reveal business insights
  • Perform rigorous data analysis to proactively identify any inconsistencies or data quality issues. Provide recommendations for improvements
  • Work to improve the day-to-day activities of the analytics team with technology and automation

Desired Skills and Experience:
  • A persistent person who has the willingness to spend time in an area and become a SME in that domain
  • 4+ years of experience in analyzing large, multi-dimensional data sets and synthesizing insights into actionable solutions
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing ETL of data from multiple sources using Advanced SQL and Jupyter Notebooks
  • Strong analytical skills including experience, familiarity, and ease with analyzing large, multi-dimensional data sets
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to engage with multiple stakeholders and different teams to deliver BI solutions efficiently
  • Highly motivated, result-oriented self-starter who enjoys working in a fast-pace environment. Proven ability to function well independently as well as in a team
  • Data driven mindset with degree in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Mathematics or Economics
  • Experience in Fintech/Banking/Credit/Payment industry a strong plus
  • Experience with a statistical programming language like R or Python is a plus
