We are searching to find smart, motivated Senior Applications Engineer with C/C++, C#, and/or Java programming experience. The Applications Engineer will be responsible for resolving customer problems. In this role, you will work closely with other members of technical support staff to provide high-quality support to our customers
The Senior Applications Engineer, as part of our Technical Support Team, will be responsible for resolving tier-1 and tier-2 customer problems. In this role, you will work closely with Synopsys developers and existing technical support staff to provide high-quality support to our customers. Tasks essential to this position include:
  • Be the Single Point of Contact for many of our strategic customers. You will be the customers trusted advisor and advocate, understand the customer's environment and business goals and work closely with the account team when needed
  • Provide email and online-meeting-based technical support to customers of our products
  • Work with existing global teams and developers to provide resolution to customer issues.
  • Research and respond to customer requests and provide detailed explanations to address questions and concerns from some of the world's brightest developers and software architects.
  • Support the product release process of new versions
  • Create knowledge items for recurring issues
  • Ensure customer satisfaction with well-written responses, resolution to each case, and escalation to support management when needed
  • Reproduce customer-reported issues for product engineering team
  • Must be able to work off-hour or on-call shifts on an as-needed basis

Key Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a software or engineering discipline

Preferred Experience
  • Typically requires at least 5 + years of work experience in Technical support or development
  • C/C++/C# or Java programming experience
  • Ability to read and debug one or more of the following languages C/C++, C#, Objective C, Java
  • Experience with three or more of the following:
    • Docker container-based applications
    • Web application servers, particularly Tomcat
    • Databases, SQL
    • Open Source Software
    • Jenkins, TeamCity, or other CI tools
  • Good written and verbal communication skills: The ability to ask questions, parse answers for facts and effectively provide next steps and action plans
  • Experience with variety of industry hardware platforms and operating systems (Linux/Unix, Windows, etc.).
  • Strong knowledge and background in Tomcat administration and troubleshooting, including clustering
  • Experience working with CRM tools such as Salesforce and JIRA.
  • Static analysis product using experience, such as Coverity will be an added advantage.
  • Visual Studio/GCC or Eclipse/Android Studio using experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to gracefully handle difficult and complex situations. Creative, innovative, and analytical thinking is strongly desired
  • Understanding of network basics and troubleshooting
  • Ability to multi-task, demonstrate leadership and collaborate effectively
  • Prior experience supporting enterprise class customers with mission critical technologies
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems and demonstrate resourcefulness in obtaining necessary diagnostic information
  • Ability to quickly assimilate complex problems and develop a resolution strategy
  • Experience in multiple compiler environments
  • Extensive technical expertise the ability to solve problems and determine the root cause of issues
  • Ability to use and train others on the use of development tools, software, and advanced troubleshooting procedures. Must be able to tailor content to meet the needs of the client.
