Job Summary

Essential Duties
  • Adheres standards and procedures, such as naming conventions, migration and upgrade processes, change management procedures, and IT policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the vendor’ s point of contact for the managed portfolio of infrastructure hardware and software
  • Proactively collaborates with vendors on best practices for configuration, installation and integration of enterprise applications within the data center infrastructure: hardware, software, database, networking, and security.
  • Proactively performs application tuning according to vendor instructions.
  • Leads and participates in projects related to assigned infrastructure systems.
  • Develops and maintains installation and upgrade documentation, including modifications to standard applications. Creates work plans, test plans and coordinates testing activities. Documents process diagrams, data flow diagrams, flow charts, data maps and data dictionaries, as appropriate. Creates documentation and check lists for internal processes that team members can easily understand. Updates operations and end user documentation as needed.
  • Provides accurate estimates to ensure reasonable target dates can be met and oversees the completion of activities to ensure they are on time and on target. Escalates issues as soon as they are known, especially with respect to impacting target dates or business risk. Communicates revised estimates and target dates to business users.
  • Leads the design and implementation of infrastructure hardware and software. Maintains and provides follow-up support and troubleshooting services for existing systems with vendor and/or other IT team(s). Monitors and applies patches/upgrades to maintain support and security.
  • Installs infrastructure software on server(s) as needed. (May include recommendation of server builds and installation of client desktop software in development environments). Serves as liaison and works closely with the Service Desk to resolve functional problems that are application-related
  • Works closely with PMO, functional users and members of other IT teams. Takes ownership of infrastructure issues and recruits appropriate resources from other ITS departments to facilitate resolution.
  • Plans, leads, and executes (during business and non-business hours) infrastructure migrations, updates, fixes as needed.
  • Defines monitoring and alerting criteria for ITS monitoring systems.
  • Proactively monitors and addresses infrastructure performance issues that are escalated by the Service Desk.
  • Works closely with the Service Desk to provide excellent customer service and support.
  • Proactively reviews and updates tickets to determine trends demanding improvement. Plans and leads
  • Monitors, downloads, recommends and applies upgrades, updates and fixes for various systems, first to the test environment and then to production after testing is completed.
  • Assists with system integration via interface configuration and system level scripting (powershell, APIs, web services, system automation and workflow development).
  • Develops security administration and monitoring procedures with Bank Security.
  • Analyzes, designs and recommends improvements in reliability and customer usability of IT systems.
  • Takes ownership and improves internal processes related to the administration of systems including quality assurance guidelines. Improves system administration internal standards and processes to promote increased quality, performance and customer experience. Improves processes to promote increased performance, efficiency and customer self-sufficiency.
  • Participates in a planned program of professional development - keeping abreast of new technologies and making recommendations on how these may be utilized within the organization.
  • Attends technical training, workshops, seminars, meetings and other trainings, as required.
  • Contributes ideas and suggestions in team discussions
  • Prepares regular status reports for manager
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Position Qualifications
  • Bachelor’ s degree in computer science, management information technology, computer technology, information technology, or related field and three or more years of progressively responsible application support; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years system administration experience supporting complex application computing environments, including experience with Windows and SQL databases, with a demonstrated understanding of the security issues involved in maintaining and safeguarding institutional data. Linux experience a plus.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work calmly and reasonably in a demanding work environment subject to a variety of pressures and constraints. This requires a high level of internal motivation and ability to work patiently and tactfully with business/department users and co-workers under stressful circumstances, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have experience testing application software, researching problems and providing detailed information required to reproduce problems and/or verify problem resolution.
  • Must demonstrate ability to install, upgrade and patch application software in an enterprise environment.
  • Must have ability to work effectively with business units, vendors, and fellow employees from a variety of diverse backgrounds.
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills
  • Must have project management experience with the ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate project status and provide leadership and direction for the activities of development teams in achieving project objectives.
  • Must have ability to develop testing plans, and manage the work of departmental resources.
  • ITIL Foundation Certified preferred
  • Strong communication, team and organizational skills.

Computer Skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word skills as evidenced by the ability to perform all of the basic functions as well as create moderately complex documents containing tables and graphs, and ability to mail merge documents, apply page setup functions (margins, page numbers, footers, headers), create an index and/or table of contents, use search & replace, print labels and envelopes.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills as evidenced by the ability to perform all of the basic functions as well as the ability to use workbooks, link data, create and edit charts, change page orientation, add headers and footers, filter and sort lists, format data, insert rows, enter and sort data and produce graphs and charts.
  • Intermediate Microsoft PowerPoint skills as evidenced by the ability to apply all of the basic skills as well as use and print notes, changing color schemes, changing fonts, bullets, slide backgrounds; adding a table, changing a slide layout, adding a chart, creating organizational charts, and search & replace.
  • Advanced Visio skills to create system and network diagrams and process flow charts for associated IT processes
