Develop and maintain effective employee relations (ER) across the Ameriprise India enterprise by providing consultation to employees, leaders, and HR Business Partners on all matters related to employee relations issues that may include: harassment, discrimination, policy violations and fraud/whistleblower complaints, etc. Work in a matrixed organization with US based employee relations team. Responsible for all HR related legal and statutory compliance, coordinating with advocate/ attorneys and labor consultants


• Resolve serious employee relations issues by coaching and consulting with employees and leaders.  Often manage cases from intake through research, investigation, tracking, documentation and resolution; primarily accountable for coaching through and resolving escalated and/or complex ER issues.  
• Be a member of and support to the ICC (Internal Complaints Committee) on a variety of employee relations matters, and work closely with the external counsel in the investigation, resolution, documentation and closure of escalated and complex PoSH cases.
• Provide advice and counsel to leaders when sought out to assist with sensitive employee situations, including performance management and disciplinary actions, including terminations.
• Collaborate with HR Business Partners and leaders to identify trends and issues within business groups, conduct climate assessments, develop recommendations, and coach leaders on implementing action plans to address identified issues. Handle employee escalations through channels including AI chatbot – Amber.
• Strategically collaborate with HR Business Partners, leaders and Centers of Excellence, globally, to develop, Initiate, communicate, implement, maintain and revise policies and procedure which may include proactively participating in special projects, new HR programs or initiatives that impact employee relations matters.
• Oversee and monitor various labor laws and ensure statutory compliance with the Provident Fund Act, Contract Labour Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, and Payment of Bonus Act. Ensure timely submission of returns, renewals of licenses, maintenance and inspection of records etc.

Required Qualifications

• 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Must be a Graduate and preferred with a relevant master’s degree.
• The candidates should possess Employee Relations and Labor Law background, with hands-on experience in having handled employee issue resolutions preferably domestic enquiries, employee litigation, and working for external labor attorneys. 
• Experience and knowledge in Employee/Labor law (Vishakha Guidelines, Constitution of India: Fundamental Rights), legal compliance requirements.
• Superior investigative skills, and experience handling complex and sensitive employee relations issues.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to build confidence and clearly coach leaders/employees through sensitive matters.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities across diverse client groups.  
• Ability to negotiate and influence effectively across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated leadership experience, skills, and abilities.
• Hands on experience in statutory & compliance for multi-state laws including Shops & Establishment Act, Professional Tax, Labor Welfare Fund, etc.
