Primary Purpose

At Fanatics, we are passionate about leveraging data to drive growth and operational efficiencies. We firmly believe in putting data at the forefront of delivering an engaging experience for our sports fans! Fanatics Brands is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our Data Science and Engineering team. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, visual analytical designers and cross functional business units.

We are looking for experienced Data Engineers with passion and a proven record of contributing to the delivery of innovative data solutions tailored to solving complex scenarios.

Role and Responsibilities:

Design and develop solutions f
or extracting data from critical systems in a fashion that minimizes impact to competing, in some cases higher priority, processes

Perform extensive data profiling to determine volumetrics, data value domains, patterns, uniqueness and other miscellaneous relevant metadata

Create Source-to-Target specifications which serve to document data lineage and as a mapping to inform ETL/ELT construction

Architect frameworks for data pipeline orchestration (e.g. scheduling, configurations, dependency chaining, etc.) that facilitate error handling, notification, restartability and expedient data movement

Create, deploy and manage data models which fulfill requirements but also balance simplicity, performance, flexibility and scalability

Monitor data pipeline processes, addressing defects as they’re discovered as well as finding opportunities for performance tuning

Participate in ad-hoc analysis as needed, both proactively and upon request

Education requirements:

5+ years working on data solutions initiatives within a BI/analytics context

Experience designing and developing data models, integrating data from multiple sources, building ETL pipelines, and supporting all aspects of the software development lifecycle

Must have 5+ years of experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Amazon EMR, Pig, Hive, Spark, and Redshift

Must have expert level SQL programming knowledge and experience

Thorough understanding of data warehouse methodologies and concepts

Exposure to Java or Scala a plus

Experience on AWS cloud is a big plus

Possess technical aptitude and a desire to learn new technologies

Capable of taking ownership of and accountability for deliverables

Able to work in a collaborative environment to support rapid development and delivery of results

Exhibit an understanding of business problems and translate those into creative, innovative and practical solutions that deliver high quality services to the business

Willing to wear may hats and be flexible with a varying nature of tasks and responsibilities.
