About Instruments and Price Master Data Management(IPMDM)

IPMDM team in Pune is responsible for the development and maintenance of systems for managing Instrument Security, Prices, historical prices and Reference Data within Barclays. Our applications provide "golden source" data to various other systems in the Bank.

IPMDM team consists a multiples teams of developers, Test Engineers, Business Analysts, Project Managers and Release Engineers and we are planning to grow the team further this year.

Overall purpose of role

Instrument and Price Master Data Management Technology (IPMDM) department requires a developer for our India (Pune/Chennai) development team.

They will be involved in all aspects of software delivery including analysis, requirements gathering, design, development, testing and handover to the production support team.

Development work will incorporate a range of languages and technologies, with a particular focus on Java and relational databases on Windows and Linux platforms. The role also requires providing level 3 support to the application support teams.

Pune/Chennai is a centre of excellence for development and the role will cover all aspects of maintenance for existing core applications and the build out of the strategic applications.

Key Accountabilities

-Develop code in line with the stories that have been agreed as part of the delivery team

-Actively engage in providing solutions to the stories that have been submitted.

-Actively engage in the delivery process and collaborate with other delivery team members to makes sure that the focus is on business value delivery

-Make sure that all development is in line with Barclays & IPMDM Standards

-Provide L3 Support as and when required across all applications

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

-Significant interaction with Operations and Technology teams in multiple locations; build strong and trusted relationships with user and other technology community. (Analyst to Director level) Interaction will be from ad hoc, direct phone contact, to regular working groups, or presentations/demos of functionality.

-The role requires on strong communication skills, both verbal and written to gain buy-in to the changes proposed and gain trust around ability to deliver. It will require handling challenging situations eg resistance to change due to nature of STP/Efficiencies or changing mind-set on technical solution or approach.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

-Strong and innovative approach to problem solving. Ability to undertake analysis to understand specific business issues or problems in greater depth and identify possible development solutions

Scope of problem solving may include by not limited to, resolution of production issues, UAT defects, data issues, through to mediating where variance of opinion on design approach or scope

Risk and Control Objective

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards.

-Technically able who can perform complex data analysis and data modelling

-Employ data driven mind set to add value to the organisation

Essential Skills/Basic Qualifications:

-Bachelors or master degree, preferable in Computer systems or Finance

-Strong experience in programming languages like Java

-Strong experience in Relational Databases like Oracle, Sql Server and PL/SQL

-Experience in Perl, Scripting languages, development exposure with XML

-Development tools such as: Eclipse, IntelliJ IDEA, Maven, TeamCity, Perforce, Jira, GIT , Stash, Chef, Nolio, Junit and scheduling tools like Autosys

-Linux (on servers) and Windows (mainly on desktops)

Desirable skills/Preferred Qualifications:

-Experience of working in an Investment bank

-Reference Data domain ( Products & Prices ) knowledge is highly desirable

-Experience with OpenShift, AWS and docker desirable
