Job Description

What is the primary purpose of this role? How does it contribute to the achievement of overall business objectives?

• Works on or assists in the creation of book covers (print & online) and/or other designs. Designs may include collaboration with other project team members and Sr. Publishing Specialists.


What are the primary responsibilities and accountabilities of this role?

• Creates and/or assists in cover/design requests, which may include tasks such as photo and logo scanning, photo retouching, and file preparation which may include other media functionality.

• Consults with the editorial team to understand their design needs and goals and create graphical prototypes for review.

• Collects, converts, and edits text and graphical materials provided by editorial teams for those prototypes as necessary.

• Ensure internal expectations are met. Work with colleagues to identify and improve processes and communication to help the fulfillment of covers/designs requested.

• Collaborate cross-functionally on special projects as necessary.


Size, nature and complexity of work. Budgetary accountability. Degree of influence.

• Works under direct supervision of Team Lead and Sr. Publishing Specialists within the team.

• Work is reviewed frequently.

• Understands the short and long-term impact of decisions within immediate scope.

• Accountable for the quality of work, delivered within agreed procedures and time-frames and focused on internal and/or external customer needs.

• Impact of their specific tasks/projects span across the organization.


Level of knowledge and application of skills.

• Good working knowledge of Adobe design software.

• Good working knowledge of MAC software & Microsoft Office.

• Basic understanding of HTML and JavaScript a plus.

• Strong detail orientation.

• Strong organization and time management skills.

• Good written and verbal communication.

• Ability to function well under pressure.

• Communicates with internal customers (editorial teams), to exchange information, understand requirements.

• Regularly communicates and shares knowledge, including upward communication of work status.

• Works as part of a team, completing varied work assignments and assisting others in their work as required.
