Job Description
Job purpose:
Provide global category management in the areas of Meeting, Congress and Events for all Divisions across Novartis, ensuring delivery of measurable value for Novartis, through alignment of business requirements, operational excellence, strategic sourcing expertise, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity and mitigation of risk.

Major account-abilities:
• Develop and implement Procurement strategies and priorities for specific categories of spend that align with those of relevant divisional and business-specific objectives.

• Establish effective ongoing relationships with business stakeholders and project teams across Novartis divisions to ensure Procurement activities effectively support business strategies.

• Proactively contribute to Novartis Procurement strategy and governance in order to most effectively deploy resources in ways that maximize total value generation for Novartis.

• Ensure Procurement practices are in accordance with corporate ethics, financial instructions and internal control requirements, and result in providing the necessary quality and safety, while delivering competitive advantage.

• Ensure business compliance requirements and adherence to policies and guidelines (Novartis and external)

• Provide change management support that challenges traditional spending behaviour, service level definition, and policy setting to enable productivity and efficiency improvements beyond traditional sourcing levers.

• Contribute to a high performing professional environment where interfacing with functional business partners, developing and implementing category strategies and implementing procurement projects into the businesses is a key priority.

• Ensure the ongoing development of relevant skills within the team, including business partnering, change and project management, category management and strategic sourcing in order to realize optimal results for functional stakeholders.

• Champion ongoing curiosity, learning and development and proactively energize other around purpose and impact.

• Define and implement a strong concept of key supplier management that maximizes the full value of supplier relationships both cross-divisionally and cross-category.

• Increase the value of supplier relationships through the identification and delivery of supplier-led innovation.

• Define and deliver key market intelligence and reporting to category management teams in collaboration with Operational Excellence.

Number of associates:

Up to 5 to 10 direct or indirect reports

Financial responsibility:  Spend USD up to 300m 

Impact on the organization: Develops and implements strategic directions for specific categories of spend within Procurement and is in charge of delivering the procurement objectives for all Novartis Divisions at project team level. Bears responsibility for value, efficiency and compliance.


Ideal background (State the preferred education and experience level)

Education:
Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum, Master’s degree preferred; in fields such as business administration, finance, law or a scientific or technical field. Strong preference for CIPS or similar professional qualification.
