Kheyti helps smallholder farmers in India gain a steady, dependable income through its "Greenhouse-in-a-Box", a simple, low-cost, modular greenhouse kit bundled with financing, inputs, training, advisory (extension) and market linkage services. They serve 100 farmers today, scaling up a 500 and plan to serve at least 10,000 farmers by 2020.

About Role
As a Business Strategy Manager, you will support the CEO and founding team in their various responsibilities of building the organization. This includes fundraising (developing new donor relationships and maintaining old ones), board relations, strategy formulation, and implementation, business planning, finance, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities
Strategy Formulation and Implementation
  • Conduct stakeholder interviews to develop insights into streamlining Kheyti’s model, products and operations 
  • Work with CEO and founding team to formulate strategic plans (Goals, Strategies, KPIs and Targets) in line with the organizational objectives 
  • Break down organizational plans into goals for individual departments 
  • Building and establishing relationships across all levels of the organization. Take ownership of educating team on the strategic plan and aligning team to organizational goals 
  • Coordinating with internal teams towards accomplishing business KPIs. Monitor implementation of strategic plans with individual departments and develop insights for course correction 
  • Generate weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on progress on strategic plans 
  • Conduct market research and help the CEO build a funder pipeline 
  • Assist in end-to-end business development including lead generation, relationship building and any due diligence activities 
  • Develop fundraising collaterals including memorandums, presentations, excel models and the like to ensure the fundraising process goes smoothly 
  • Build excel based business plans and models for medium & long term financial planning and update the same periodically 
  • Help CEO set short term budgets for the year and quarter periodically. Take ownership of communicating budgets to the extended team and aligning them to the budgets 
  • Work with the Accounts team to create monthly budget vs actual reports 
  • Conduct analysis to identify areas that are misestimated and areas where additional cost efficiencies can be achieved 
Systems Building & MIS
  • Help department leaders in streamlining the MIS systems they are building 
  • Build organizational level dashboards to integrate reporting and provide management with crucial feedback 
  • Create periodic reports to be presented to Kheyti’s funders, board, and internal stakeholders

Does this sound like you?

Must have:
  • 2-4 years of experience in an internal strategy, management consulting and/or chief of staff roles 
  • Should have done Excel modeling 
  • Should have handled client facing role (i.e.external stakeholder management) 
  • MBA from Tier-I business school 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Great documentation and presentation skills 
Behavioral Traits:
  • Should have the energy for the rural sector 
  • Should have Entrepreneurial skills
