Job Description
This role is to be filled by candidates with able experience in the field of architecture for buildings. Candidates shall possess a minimum experience of 10 years in detail design of buildings inside Chemical plants, Oil & Gas industries, Power plants, other Industrial projects and/or commercials buildings

As a member of a multi-disciplinary capital project design team, an architectural lead is responsible for the architectural design of buildings, as well as leading a multidiscipline project team (architects, engineers, and designers) throughout the life of the project. He/ She shall utilize applicable design criteria, design tools, best practices, and established work processes to complete detailed design packages. He/ She will work with an integrated design team to complete targeted tasks and assemble contract packages in accordance with the project schedule.

He/ She shall perform layout and other design activities in order to produce information, specifications, and documentation for the construction of Buildings. Projects may include new construction, renovations, alterations, and/or additions.

Responsibilities/Key Deliverables:
• Conversant with International Detailing practices & codes of practice.

• Perform early programming, conceptual design, schematic design, design development, construction drawings, and construction administration for building. In the Petrochemical Industry these stages will be part of FEL (Front End Loading), Detail Design, and Construction activities.

• Responsible for overseeing the drafting of detail design packages for construction, including but not limited to architectural Floor Plans, Life Safety Plans, Reflected Ceiling Plans, Roof Plans, Code Analysis/Requirements, Demolition Plans/Elevations, Accessibility Diagrams, Signage Diagrams, Building Elevations, Building Sections, Wall Sections, Interior Elevations, Millwork Elevations/Schedules/Details, Door and Window Schedules, Finish Schedules/Finish Legends/Finish Plans, and miscellaneous architectural details.

• Deliver Quality project deliverables adhering to DOW drafting standards and work processes.

• Responsible for overseeing the preparation and update of 3D models for design progress & subsequent extraction of drawings for construction, compliant with the work processes.

• Accountable for quality & timely execution of the assigned scope of work.

• Coordinate work with in-house building disciplines (Architectural, Structural, HVAC, Plumbing, and Electrical), and with other engineering disciplines (Civil, Piping, Process Automation, Mechanical, Electrical), etc).

• Represent the Buildings Discipline in project team meetings.

• Utilize Building Information Modeling (BIM) to prepare and modify architectural documents.

• Update and develop project specifications from Dow EMETL (Electronic Most Effective Technology Library - Dow Standards).

• Be the focal point of the Construction Administration activities. Assist in the review of product or shop drawing submittals during the construction phase, as well as responding to RFI’s.

• Responsible for requesting access to project folders for the team, creating a project roster, developing a Unit Work Book estimate for the engineering hours, requesting Title block requirements.

• Responsible for clearly identifying all deliverables and milestones for the buildings team.

• Schedule and manage team meetings, provide project updates, and be the gatekeeper for all communications related to the Buildings discipline.

• Schedule kick-off meetings, progress meetings, quality reviews and team checks.

• Manage and report changes to the project team.

Required experiences and skills include the following:

• Self-starter with initiative, effective oral, written and electronic communication skills, and organization skills.

• Strong initiative and team dynamics capabilities.

• Strong interpersonal relationship and time-management skills.

• Strong English language written and oral communication skills.

• Ability to work with a wide variety of detail design leads/ designers, including other detail design disciplines and personnel from diverse cultures.

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience working on building design.

• Past experience with architectural detail design packages for buildings and project management.

• Proficient use of 2D and 3D modeling Design tools.

• Availability to travel to sites (approximately 5-15% of the time) for field verification and willingness to work with a global team.

• Availability to travel to the United States for 2-3 months of training. 

Required proficiency with the following:

• SP3D (preferred, but not required)

• Bentley Micro station V7 or V8i (preferred, but not required)

• Autodesk AutoCAD

• Autodesk Revit

• MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint)

• Experience with Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign and Sketch Up graphic software (preferred, but not required).


• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture.
